Where We Start
Matt, Liz and Aster have left Minkalla and are trying to recover while the Path's clock keeps running. They are about to reach Tier 15 (blurb).
Major Plot Points & Spoilers
- An auction house, MinkallAuctions, appears (Ch 4), and Matt's team trains on the land of Audrey's Apples until they can do Tier 18 rifts (Ch 7).
- They travel by ship to the Citadel for Yellow's ascension (Ch 9-12), where legacies could help Aster's and Liz's Skills (Ch 11) and Liz meets family such as her brother-in-law (Ch 12).
- A noble who openly challenged Emperor Georgios is made Yellow of the Path's Tribunal (Ch 14).
- Matt organises a Tier 3 and an unawakened tournament on Lilly (Ch 19-20), and 'Quill' investigates a company case and a kidnapping involving Linda Gerble (Ch 22-27).
- Quill and Torch sponsor Eleanor and Ethan of the Mallick Clan (Ch 31-32). The wiki also shows the Great Powers preparing for war: Federation warriors in training (Ch 1) and Corporations mercenary leaders negotiating contracts (Ch 16).
Where the Book Leaves Off
The volume is driven by the Path's time crunch and the looming Tier 15 deadline, when Aster must leave for the Bond Academy for at least ten years (blurb). The last events our sources record are Quill and Torch sponsoring Eleanor and Ethan of the Mallick Clan (Ch 31-32), while the Great Powers prepare for war. Whether Aster actually departs, and what the final chapter shows, is not verified. The Book 9 blurb opens with the Path already completed, but it does not describe how Book 8 closes.
