I · The Main Plot

Where We Start

Matt, Liz and Aster are out on the frontier, and Camilla, a young woman Duke Waters rescued from a cruel noble, travels with them as a temporary addition (blurb; wiki: Book 2 Ch 14). The wiki ties the planet's trouble to the party's own role in awakening a golem ruin.

Major Plot Points & Spoilers

  1. The party meets Fen, a bonded wolf-handler, and others while warning people of Prince Albert's meetup (Ch 12). The wiki says the ruin golems are destroying the forest and killing refugees (Ch 13).
  2. Golems ravage the area. Matt's team fights with Basil and Thyme, protects a group of non-combatants in a rift (Ch 14-15), and plots with Camilla and Fen to kill a royal crafter who coerced a lower-Tiered man. Matt carries it out (Ch 14).
  3. Duke Waters kills a guest who defends a cruel Duke Cumulus (Ch 16).
  4. Subjugating the ruin splits into a contribution contest. A duke's son buys the golem flying fortress out from under the prince, then sets the contribution type to direct, which puts Liz and Aster first and Matt second (Ch 22).
  5. The team appraises its first rift-experiment haul (Ch 25) and the wiki records a vassal war being arranged for a Tier 20 planet by a Tier 33 Empire battalion commander (Ch 28), with a Path Tribunal aide and an Empire appraiser assigned to Matt's party (Ch 29-30).

Where the Book Leaves Off

Our sources do not record the very last chapter; the final wiki entries show the Empire assigning an appraiser to Matt's party (Ch 30) after the vassal war on a Tier 20 planet has been arranged (Ch 28).

II · Characters & Personal Progression

Romantic & Personal Status

Matt and Liz are together by Book 2 (they travel as partners). The wiki records no new romance for Matt in this book. Camilla is described as preferring female clients and as hoping to find someone who looks at her the way Matt looks at Liz, but this is character background rather than a confirmed event.

Inner Circle Check-In

  • Elizabeth 'Liz' Moore: Matt's partner; Liz and Aster take first place in the golem contribution contest (Ch 22).
  • Aster: Matt's ice-fox bond; shares first place in the contribution contest.
  • Camilla: The 'temporary addition'. Duke Waters allowed her to travel with Liz's party after she insisted on leaving. She is trapped in a cage during the Golem Fortress boss fight (wiki, details unverified).

Key New Faces & Factions

Fenally

A man with a Talent for multiple bonds, among them two lightning wolves, Bow and Arrow. He temporarily teams up to move non-combatants into a rift (Ch 12).

Prince Albertneutral

Seven Suns kingdom prince who organises the meetup against the golems. His wider role is not verified.

Basil and Thymeally

A momentum-based front-liner and a mage, assigned to work with Matt's party (Ch 14).

III · End-of-Book Stats & Power Gains

Current Rank / Grade

Not verified. The wiki mentions Tier 6 and Tier 7 characters in the golem fight, but no Tier is stated for Matt, Liz or Aster at the end of Book 2.

Dao / Path / Class Evolution

No concept or class change is verified for Book 2. The wiki records Matt and Liz sending a growth item to a Tier 6 solo fighter's tree bond, Den, from their first rift experiments, which is the first sign of the 'rift experiments' thread.

Major Skill & Body Gains

  • First rift experiments, which produce growth items and a haul that is appraised (Ch 25).
  • The party's standing from the golem contribution contest.
  • Materials from the Golem Ruin used to upgrade Camilla's whip (wiki).

IV · Extras: Empire, Gear & World State

Territory & Faction Upgrades

None. The party works under the Empire's Path and Seven Suns kingdom authority.

Signature Gear & Vessels

  • Growth weapons used by Camilla (a bladed whip and an extending mace), upgraded with golem-ruin materials (wiki).
  • Liz's Blood Iron, appraised in Ch 24.

Ticking Clocks

  • The vassal war for a Tier 20 planet that the Empire is arranging (Ch 28).
  • The Path Tribunal's attention, now represented by an assigned appraiser (Ch 29-30).
  • Camilla's future after her temporary stay with the team is unresolved.
