I · The Main Plot

Where We Start

Carl, Donut and Chris arrive on Floor 6, the Hunting Grounds, a jungle about the size of Iceland where the crawlers must survive 17 days against roughly 1,000 wealthy alien hunters. Hunters are released in 30 hours.

Major Plot Points & Spoilers

  1. Carl picks the Agent Provocateur specialization and bombs the hunter capital in the Zockau Raid before the official start, killing dozens of hunters and humiliating the Dark Hive mantises led by Vrah.
  2. Carl temporarily hands the Gate of the Feral Gods to the Syndicate and gains four permanent mercenary bodyguards, plus a place in the Faction Wars.
  3. CrawlCon: Carl is pulled out of the dungeon to a fan convention. Odette tells him his ex-girlfriend Beatrice is alive and held off-planet.
  4. The Valtay Corporation buys a majority stake in Borant. A failed world quest unleashes the Gehenna Brambles, a wall of thorns that herds everyone toward the High Elf castle.
  5. Carl and Donut reunite a juvenile allosaurus, formerly an Ursine child, with her 'mother' through a dinosaur ballet (the Big Tina quest).
  6. The Butcher's Masquerade is a trap hosted by Queen Imogen, a level 145 High Elf Queen, in a magic-sealed ballroom where the top 50 crawlers and the hunters attend and violence is impossible. Signet, a half-naiad NPC, sacrifices herself to break the seal.
  7. The four-way battle destroys the hunters and Queen Imogen, and Prepotente delivers the final blow to the queen. Miriam Dom, a vampire crawler, sacrifices herself at sunrise to cure the vampire plague she started.
  8. Floor 7: Prepotente, grieving and enraged, uses an artifact to destroy the seventh floor before it fully forms, so the survivors go directly to Floor 8.

Where the Book Leaves Off

Katia, per ursummary, is tricked into equipping the cursed Crown of the Sepsis Whore (Wikipedia says Eva places it on her after Eva is found dead). The survivors are sent to Floor 8.
