I · The Main Plot

Where We Start

Following the events of Bloodline, Lindon, Yerin and Eithan settle in the Blackflame city of Serpent's Grave for a quiet first third. A prologue sets the Abidan war with the Mad King in a world called Fathom, between the Way and the Void.

Major Plot Points & Spoilers

  1. Lindon delves deep into the ancient labyrinth, seeking long-lost soulsmithing knowledge and the secret to destroying the Dreadgods.
  2. The Monarchs plot against Lindon and each other, unaware of threats gathering in realms beyond.
  3. Above Cradle, Suriel and the Abidan clash with the Mad King and his forces; reviewers say far more of the Abidan war is shown here than in earlier books.
  4. A late-book reveal, which reviewers describe as a major twist that reframes earlier books, changes how the Monarchs and Abidan see Eithan. Details of the labyrinth finds and the reveal are not stated in the sources we could read.
  5. By the end, per a later review, Eithan is forced to ascend to the Abidan and Ozriel returns to his role as the Reaper.

Where the Book Leaves Off

Per the Dreadgod reviews, which describe Reaper's end, Eithan is forced out of Cradle and the Monarchs are left to work out the fallout of the reveal. We could not verify further.
