Where We Start
Just outside Sacred Valley in the Desolate Wilds, Lindon and Yerin patch up after the fight with Heaven's Glory. Lindon is still at Foundation. Yerin helps him advance to Copper using the starlotus they stole.
Major Plot Points & Spoilers
- A poison-path group ambushes them while Lindon advances; they win but have to hide from the Remnants left behind, then follow a surge of vital aura to a giant pyramid that appeared a week earlier. It holds a spear sacred to the Jai clan.
- Yerin humiliates a group of Sandvipers at the encampment. Eithan, who has watched from afar, is intrigued by Lindon's two cores and shocked by Suriel's marble.
- Lindon begs to learn soulsmithing from Fisher Gesha and forges his first pure madra scales. The Sandvipers' leader Jai Long (a Truegold with a wrapped face) has Lindon taken as a miner after the Sandvipers' embarrassment.
- A heist to steal scales fails and Lindon, Yerin and then Eithan are sent into the pyramid as miners. Eithan locks Lindon in with dreadbeasts, makes them duel for two weeks, then advances Lindon to Iron with a painful sandviper-venom process that gives him a Bloodforged Iron body.
- In the treasure chamber the Sandvipers attack. Lindon uses a binding to kill the Sandviper heir Kral, and the binding explodes. Eithan reveals he is heir of the Aurelius family and an Underlord, and asks Jai Long for a duel with Lindon in one year.
