TL;DR

Knowing the exit is barred and that the Red Robe is gone, Zorian and Zach turn the loop into a campaign: they work out that a Key made of five Ikosian treasures is needed, train with time-dilation Black Rooms, learn the simulacrum spell, hunt the jungle-hidden Imperial Orb with Zorian's brother Daimen, and bring Silverlake and the Xlotic desert into the plan. The loop's restart counter falls from 52 to 25 before the arc ends.

I · The Main Plot

Where We Start

Chapter 55. Zorian and Zach have just learned that the Red Robe left the loop and locked the gate behind him, and that only one Controller can leave. The wiki's Chronology shows 52 restarts left. Their first restart back is a short break, filled with Xvim's and Alanic's demands, Taiven's combat training and a search for the expelled student Veyers Boranova.

Major Plot Points & Spoilers

  1. Alanic starts teaching Zach to sense his own soul, and Kael scales up his experiments now that the Red Robe has gone. Zorian learns more ward theory from Xvim.
  2. The pair work out the Key to the Sovereign Gate, five treasures of the first Ikosian Emperor: a ring, a crown, a staff, an orb and a dagger. The Controller marker lets them detect nearby pieces, and the tracking shows that the lich Quatach-Ichl wears the crown (chapters 59-60).
  3. Black Rooms: from chapter 61 they use the Cyorian facility's Black Room (one day fits thirty), then Sulamnese and Cwenjari ones, to train. They also hit Eldemar's vault and raid a library for lost magic, and Alanic confirms the simulacrum spell instructions they found are genuine (chapter 62).
  4. The Imperial Orb: Zorian meets his eldest brother Daimen in Koth, where Daimen leads treasure hunters and has a fiancee, Orissa Taramatula. Together with Zach they fight through chameleon drakes and a divinely enhanced eight-headed hydra, Princess, which guards the orb's cenote. The orb is a pocket-dimension palace and later drains the Cyorian Black Room.
  5. Sudomir's wraith bombs and the Ibasan gate: Zorian learns Sudomir can use the soul trap's wraiths to provoke Sulamnon and threaten Eldemar, and they take the Ibasan gate early so the invaders evacuate.
  6. Silverlake gets her price. Zorian and Zach kill a grey hunter and a giant brown salamander for her, she teaches them pocket dimension creation and brews a soul perception potion, and she guesses the loop is inside a primordial (chapters 74-77). On the way they are nearly killed by a soulseizer chrysanthemum, and they find Veyers soul-killed at the lawyer Jornak Dokochin's house.
  7. Zach practices simulacra. Zorian designs a golem housing for his own simulacra. In a later restart they get an airship and the ring's key from the sulrothum of the Xlotic desert.
  8. Chapter 80: a TV Tropes 'Wham Line' has Zorian piecing together clues about an old, obscure-named master of soul magic from Xlotic and concluding that he is Quatach-Ichl, who also has a human appearance (ectoplasmic shell). In a later restart the Chronology says they hit the Eldemar vault with Quatach-Ichl and Zorian dies fleeing the lich's self-explosion. The full context of both scenes is not in our sources.

Where the Book Leaves Off

The chapter-by-chapter sources available to us end Arc 3 around chapter 83 (Arc 4 begins at chapter 84 per the Chronology) without a clear final scene. By then the loop has about 25 restarts left, Zorian and Zach hold the orb and have located the ring, and the crown, dagger and staff are still outstanding.

II · Characters & Personal Progression

Romantic & Personal Status

No romance is verified in our sources for this arc. Daimen's engagement to Orissa Taramatula is confirmed (a marriage of convenience per TV Tropes), but Zorian's own romantic status is not stated.

Inner Circle Check-In

  • Zach Noveda: Zorian's partner in the loop. He trains with Alanic on soul sense and starts practicing the simulacrum spell.
  • Kirielle Kazinski: Still starts each restart by jumping on Zorian, and accompanies him to school in several restarts.
  • Daimen Kazinski: Zorian's oldest brother, who first appears in chapter 66. He is a treasure hunter, psychic, and a vital partner for the orb hunt even though Zorian resents him.
  • Alanic Zosk: The priest who teaches both loopers soul sense and who vets the stolen simulacrum instructions.
  • Xvim Chao: Continues to teach Zorian ward and shaping, and joins the attack on the summoning (chapter 60).

Key New Faces & Factions

Daimen Kazinski and Orissa Taramatulaally

Daimen leads a treasure-hunting group in Koth. Orissa is his fiancee, a scout who uses bees and unstructured mind magic.

Princessenemy

An eight-headed hydra, much larger than normal, that guards the Imperial Orb's cenote. She is killed in the loop at a cost of one death and several injuries.

Jornak Dokochinunknown

A young lawyer with ties to the Cult of the Dragon Below. Veyers's soul-killed body is found at his house. The arc does not explain his role.

Sulrothum of the Ziggurat of the Sunneutral

A wasp-like species in the Xlotic desert whose high priest holds the Imperial Ring.

Silverlakeneutral

Teaches pocket dimensions and soul perception for grey hunter and salamander corpses. She is selfish and her endgame is not shown in this arc.

III · End-of-Book Stats & Power Gains

Current Rank / Grade

No formal rank system. The loop is under six years old by chapter 66 and about seven years excluding Black Rooms by chapter 79, with 25 restarts left at the start of Arc 4. The wiki gives no new 'Reserves' figure for Zorian in Arc 3 beyond the 35 at chapter 43.

Dao / Path / Class Evolution

Zorian adds divination (from Daimen and Kirma), control magic (from Torun), pocket-dimension creation (from Silverlake), and soul perception. His simulacrum use grows. The wiki says the Black Rooms let him practice far beyond the normal month.

Major Skill & Body Gains

  • Pocket dimension creation and a soul perception potion from Silverlake.
  • Simulacrum spell instructions found and verified, plus a golem housing that keeps a simulacrum at about half the mana of an ectoplasmic one.
  • Divination from Daimen and Kirma, and control magic from Torun.
  • Heavy Black Room training time, and Imperial Orb access.

IV · Extras: Empire, Gear & World State

Territory & Faction Upgrades

No territory. The orb gives the pair a self-contained palace in a pocket dimension, though it was in poor repair, and they use Black Rooms for training.

Signature Gear & Vessels

  • The Imperial Orb, a pocket-dimension palace that is part of the Key. The Controller can also use it as a large memory bank.
  • Rights to a Black Room in the Cyorian facility, which the orb later drains.
  • An airship and a ring key from the Xlotic sulrothum, per the Chronology.

Ticking Clocks

  • The loop's restart limit: about 25 restarts left when Arc 3 closes.
  • Three Key pieces are outstanding: the crown worn by Quatach-Ichl, the dagger in Eldemar's treasury, and the staff in Blantyrre.
  • The Red Robe, who is outside the loop, and the Dragon Cult's plan to free Panaxeth at the summer festival.
