I · The Main Plot

Where We Start

Change is coming to the world. Erin has returned to manage the inn, and Lyonette must adjust. Geneva Scala remains on the bloodier battlefields of Baleros.

Major Plot Points & Spoilers

  1. The King of Destruction moves, and a certain doctor finds more friends from home (blurb, unnamed).
  2. Lyonette, described as a princess who solves problems rather than creates them, must learn to be a good employee instead of managing everything.
  3. Geneva Scala, the Last Light of Baleros, grows in fame but sees no future in the war, works against hostile forces, and 'is no longer alone'.

Where the Book Leaves Off

The publisher blurb states no cliffhanger and we have not read the text, so the exact final scene is unverified. Per the blurb, the volume closes with Erin back at the inn and Lyonette still learning to be an employee, while Geneva Scala keeps fighting in Baleros and 'is no longer alone'. The King of Destruction is described as having moved, but the outcome of that move is not stated in our sources. Treat all of these threads as open going into the next volume.
