TL;DR
Corin Cadence's brother Tristan vanished into the Serpent Spire, a tower of shifting rooms, traps and monsters whose survivors return with an attunement, a mark that grants magical powers. When Corin's own turn comes he sets out to climb to the top and meet the spire's goddess, needing training, allies and resourcefulness to get there. Much of the book is set in a university-like school where students learn magic.
