TL;DR

Cultivators wipe out human civilization in hours, a red moon brings monsters, and a decade later the survivors serve their Qi-wielding rulers. Max refuses, and a fierce goddess offers him a path to power built on blood, rage and pain instead of Qi.

I · The Main Plot

Where We Start

More than a decade after the cultivators destroyed civilization on Earth, the survivors live as servants to their Qi-wielding rulers, and the narrator, Max, refuses to serve.

Major Plot Points & Spoilers

  1. The cultivators arrive and destroy human civilization within hours; a red moon then brings monsters to Earth (Risingshadow synopsis, author-site blurb).
  2. Over a decade later the surviving humans serve the Qi-wielding rulers, and Max refuses to serve and wants revenge (Risingshadow).
  3. A fierce goddess offers Max a different road to power that does not rely on Qi: the Berserker path, fuelled by blood, rage and pain (author-site blurb, Audible).
  4. Max's stated plan is to retake Earth by growing strong enough to beat the cultivators at their own game (Risingshadow).
  5. The author site lists the book at 934 pages, the longest in the series, and Audible lists the audiobook at 28 hours 48 minutes, so the opening volume carries the whole origin of the path.
  6. Chapter-level events, the goddess's name and the identities of the ruling cultivators are not recorded in the blurbs we could read, so they are left out rather than guessed.

Where the Book Leaves Off

The blurbs describe only the setup. Book 2 opens with Max already a Berserker with a Core Realm breakthrough, founding a Terran Sect and working to topple a 14,000-year-old cultivation empire, so Book 1 hands off by establishing his power and his rebellion, but the exact final chapter is not recorded.

II · Characters & Personal Progression

Inner Circle Check-In

  • Max: Protagonist and narrator. Refuses to serve the cultivators and takes up the Berserker path; his starting Realm and exact grade are not recorded in our sources.

Key New Faces & Factions

The fierce goddessally

Offers Max a power that does not depend on Qi. Her name and nature beyond the blurb description are not recorded.

The cultivatorsenemy

Qi-wielding conquerors who destroyed human civilization in hours and now rule the survivors.

Surviving humansneutral

Serve their rulers more than a decade after the invasion; Max alone is shown refusing.

III · End-of-Book Stats & Power Gains

Current Rank / Grade

No end-of-book Realm is recorded in our sources; the opening volume is framed around Max beginning his climb rather than a named grade.

Dao / Path / Class Evolution

Max rejects Qi cultivation for a Berserker path powered by blood, rage and pain, the series' core contrast with the empire's Qi-based cultivators.

Major Skill & Body Gains

  • Access to the goddess-taught Berserker path, a non-Qi route to power (blurb-level; specific skills are not itemised in our sources).

IV · Extras: Empire, Gear & World State

Territory & Faction Upgrades

No territory is held yet; the contested ground is Earth, ruled by the cultivators.

Ticking Clocks

  • The cultivators still rule Earth and will have to be beaten at their own game.
  • Book 2's blurb shows the fight scaling up to an ancient empire and threats from beyond the stars.
